Police in Banjul have arrested two staff of an Islamic Bank in Farafenni in the North Bank Region as investigations into last week’s robbery case continue.

A source who is familiar with the matter and spoke to The Point on the condition of anonymity said police in Banjul believed there was a foul play as they apprehended two suspects.

Another source who spoke to The Point on the same matter said the bank’s key was in fact left at the bank on that faithful night of robbery, thus opening room for suspicious.

Recall: Robbers last Saturday entered an Islamic Bank in Farafenni in the North Bank Region (NBR) and made away with more than D600, 000.

Our source added that the staff of the bank claimed that when they were closing from work on Friday 27 December, they left more than D1000, 000.

“The robbers broke the padlock and entered the bank. An amount of more than three hundred thousand dalasis was later found in the bank.”
