19-Year-Old Boy Jailed for Theft

Modou Manneh 19-year-old boy on Tuesday 30th December 2008 was arraigned before Brikama Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh of the Brikama Magistrates' Court for stealing.

According to the particulars of the offence, on or about the 30th December 2008 at Mandinaba village, Kombo East, Western Region, the accused stole cash of D1,500 body spray value D100.00, 27 DVD Cassettes valued D2,025 (two thousand twenty five Dalasis) the total value D3,625.00 the property of one Fafa Sanyang. He pleaded guilty.

According to the police prosecutor 1st class Lamin Jammeh, the incident happened on the 30th day of November 2008 at Mandinaba village while the complainant Fafa Sanyang was coming from the farm, he saw the accused running away from his compound he decided to run after him,but unfortunately he could not caught him. He said the complainant later reported the matter to the Mandinaba police station and the accused was arrested and brought to the police station.

The accused was later convicted and sentenced to serve 3 months imprisonment and to pay compensation of D500 in default to serve another 3 months imprisonment.
