An
18-year-boy Demba Secka, residing in Nema Alkali, is soliciting support to
undergo overseas treatment.
According
to his medical report from the Medical Research Council, Demba’s illness has
been given an extensive investigation management but they are unable to
determine the cause of his illness.
The
report added that he would rather benefit from further investigations such as
contort CT and Endoscopy, which is not available in The Gambia presently.
According
to his mother, Fatou Bittaye, her son has been suffering from continuous
stomachache and sore throat which even made eating difficult for him for over a
year.
They
have had several medical checkups at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital
and recently at the Medical Research Council (MRC) but no result had been
established for the cause of her son’s illness.
“My
family is not financially strong and we have been encountering a lot of
financial constraints recently because every little amount that we have, have
been used to buy drugs for my son,” she said.
She
was therefore appealing to government and members of the private sector or
individuals to help her son to get treatment overseas.
