Twelve drivers, both commercial and private were recently arraigned before Magistrate Drammeh of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court, charged with obstruction to a public highway.
The accused persons were separately arraigned before the court on different charge sheets.
According to the charge sheets, the accused persons on 8th August 2010, at Tabokoto between the hours of 1800-1900 were driving and stopped at a place, thereby causing obstruction to other road users.
The accused persons who all pleaded not guilty were each granted a court bail in the sum of D50, 000 with a Gambian surety each who should sworn to an affidavit of means and deposit the new bio-metric ID Card.
The accused persons: Saikou Touray with a registration number BJL 7295D, Abdul Cham 3107E, Saihou Drammeh URD 1503A, Abdou Sanneh BJL 6240E, Edrissa Badjie BJl 4270F, Ebou Manneh AIZ NGO 1, Ousman Colley BJL 0528 F, Hamat Mbye BJL 6729 C, Bunja Saidy Faye BJL 3438G, Martin R. Mendy BJL 0941A, Momodou Alieu Nawec 4 and Saikou Njie BJL 1617G.
The case was adjourned to today.
