Have you ever wondered why of all the things Jesus could have left with us, He chose PEACE? He could have given us wealth or something more valuable, but in His thinking nothing can replace peace.
Anything other than peace has a shelf life, whereas peace brings with it numerous 'grand sons and daughters' -- a host of other goodies. With peace, nothing else bothers you. You are anxious for nothing because your God is your Sustainer and Provider.
When His disciples were worried about drowning as they crossed the Galillean Sea, He rebuked the wind and restored the peace - the kind that kept Him in the midst of the storm asleep until His panicky disciples woke Him up. I believe you know in whom you believe, so keep His peace always with you as a permanent feature.
He further qualifies the kind of peace He would make available. "I do not give as the world gives." (v 27) Whatever the world gives with one hand, it takes with the other.
As He calms their fears about the unknown, Jesus states. "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble." (Jn.16:33)
I will exchange nothing for God's peace. Not only is it free of charge - with no strings attached; it is long-lasting in nature.
*"You - O God - will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast because you trust in him. (Isa. 26:3) Amen!
