Dutchess D Essen, Chief Executive Officer of People Who Care Worldwide said the programme was designed three years ago to encourage kids to do better in schools. This year, she explained, the performance of the children was not as good as it was in the previous years.
She however encouraged the school children, the organisers and the school authorities to enhance performance, saying: “Each child was actually a winner; there were no losers.”
Also speaking at the program, Nani Bojang, deputy headmistress of Pirang Lower Basic School, thanked The People Who Care Worldwide Organization for supporting schools within the area, particularly Pirang Lower Basic School. She said this year’s was the third quiz competition conducted by the organization.
“This program is good and may be done not only for Pirang; it can be extended to Kombo East,” Madam Bojang suggested.
Lamin A. Sanyang, the coordinator of the programme, said the quiz competition is carried out to build the academic capacity of the students and to let them concentrate more on their books.
