Imam Baba Leigh, who official opened Lebou Supermarket and Tailoring Shop thanked the investors for complementing government efforts in creating employment for young people of The Gambia. He further described the initiatives as a good move, adding that the country can only be developed by Gambians.
He called on Gambians to take charge of the country’s business trade, rather than to live everything in the hands of foreigners.
Momodou Lamin Manneh, co-investor and also the husband to the chief executive officer (CEO) of Lebou Enterprise said the business is initiated by his wife to create employment for young people of the country.
“My wife is an enterprise woman, who has a lot of vision, This is why she came up with the initiative. Most businesses in the country are occupied by foreigners who are here to make profit which goes back to their countries,” he stated.
“To secure our own integrity, we need to invest into business,” he said.
Lamin Ndow, councillor for Abuko Ward described the initiative as a good investment by Marry Louise who is also known as Marry Njie (CEO of Lebou Enterprise.)
“The investment is a good development for my ward and community,” he said.
He encouraged other Gambians who have the financial ability to contribute to national development by venturing into such initiatives to reduce the high cost of basic commodities.
According to him, The Gambia’s business sector is dominated by foreigners who are only interested in making profit.
