The young musician snatched the award from the eminent Awa Gambia, Mariama Cham and Praise Gimba, and it was presented by Fatoumatta A.C. Camara and received by Mariama Cham on her behalf.
“Been fighting against SGBV for years through Music and am honoured for the recognition. Thanks to the She Awards Gambia for my 3rd nomination,” the young artist reacted following her nomination.
She has indeed been one of the true front-liners in the struggle against FGM. In the light of this, she has recorded and released a song titled ‘Cut No More’.
The young musician has also carried out a school tour dubbed ‘Cut No More School Tour’, touring some schools across the country to raise awareness about FGM, amongst other issues facing girls.
