
Abdoulie Jawara, a dynamic youth leader, educator and entrepreneur, has dedicated himself to grassroots empowerment and sustainable development in The Gambia.
Jawara currently serves as the Regional Youth Chairperson for the Central River Region (CRR) under the National Youth Council representing and advocating for young people across the region.
A native of Njau Sawalo Village in Upper Saloum District, Jawara began his academic journey at Njau Lower Basic School and continued through Panchang Basic Cycle and Armitage Senior Secondary School.
Jawara earned a Primary Teachers Certificate from The Gambia College and is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in English Language at the International Open University (IOU).
He brings over a decade of experience in education, having served as an English and Mathematics teacher at Njau Lower Basic School from 2013 to 2023.
His passion for youth empowerment has seen him rise through the ranks of youth leadership - first as District Youth Chairperson of Upper Saloum for two terms, and now as the Regional Chairperson.
Jawara is also a founder and entrepreneur, having established Pakala Poultry and Sheep Fattening and the Upper Saloum and Nianija Rice Production Associations - initiatives that promote food security and rural entrepreneurship.
As a trainer in entrepreneurship and agriculture, he actively supports young people in building sustainable livelihoods.
Jawara has represented The Gambia on the international stage, including a 5-day UN Women conference in Saly, Senegal, focused on strengthening the capacities of young feminists across West and East Africa, where over 20 countries were represented.
His leadership and mediation skills were notably demonstrated through a partnership with the Women’s Association for Victim Empowerment (WAVE).
Together, they successfully mediated a cross-border education initiative between Kerr Mot Ali (Senegal) and Kerr Mot Ali (Gambia), which led to the enrolment of over 100 students from Senegal into Njau Basic Cycle School.
In addition to his official duties, Abdoulie is a member of the Njau Development Youth Association, the Upper District Youth Committee, and the CRR (North) Poultry Farmers Network, where he serves as Public Relations Officer.
Jawara’s core strengths include team building, communication, innovation, and community mobilization.
His blend of experience in education, agriculture, entrepreneurship, and youth leadership makes him a powerful force for change and rural development in The Gambia.
Meanwhile, The Executive Director of Youth Connekt Africa Yann GWET alongside African Union Commission and UNDP partners wrapped up a successful visit to Madagascar capped off with the official signing of the YCA Summit 2025 host Country.
