Yakarr Football Academy to hold football festival this weekend

Yakarr Football Academy will this weekend hold its 5th annual football festival through women’s social empowerment. The tournament will take place on 29th to 30th October 2022 at Siffoe Football Field in Kombo South.

The annual festival is organised by founder of Yakarr Football Academy, Adama Jarjou and annually held on her special birthday in her community of Siffoe.

Ms Jarjou, who will be holding the 5th edition of the festival, sponsored different women in her community and its surrounding areas through the academy and foundation.

“The main objective of the festival is to promote grassroots and women’s football in particular. It is also a motivational programme for youngsters, which is very important,” Adama Jarjou said during an interview with Lamin Fadera on Afri Radio.

She also noted that even though women’s football is developing in the platform to showcase their talents, it is also an opportunity for women to take part to inspire and be inspired.

According to her, this year’s football festival will attract a nationwide team and a registration fee of D1000 (one thousand dalasi) for each group.

“The festival will bring together women footballers, promoters and well-wishers of the game in a day-long activity centered on women football development advocacy.”

Ms Jarou added that 12 teams will participate in a mini fitness tournament as part of the events.
