The annual championship is set to bring together major ‘nawettan’ zones such as Brikama, Brufut, Sukuta, Foni, Kombo East, Sanyang, COSDA, Lamin, Kombo Central Two and Gunjur.
The tournament is expected to attract spectators from West Coast Region and its environs.
The zones will use the 2023 West Coast Region zonal football championship to prepare themselves ready for the 2023 super nawettan zonal football competition set to commence later this month.
Sanyang won the 2022 West Coast Regional zonal football tournament trophy following their 4-3 post-match penalty shootouts victory over Brikama after regular time ended 2-2 in a tightly-contested final played at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium.
Gunjur won the first edition of the West Coast Region zonal football tournament trophy after thumping Sanyang 2-0 in a well-attended final played at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium.
