"We could have scored in the first half but we failed to capitalise on our chances.
The match was played in a very good spirit and both teams played good football during the match," Coach Mckinstry said.
Mckinstry revealed that the match was fair and competitive, adding that the match would strengthen the excellent relationship that exist between Senegal and The Gambia.
He further described his team as young team and created chances but failed to capitalize on them.
"We were disappointed because we were down to 1-0 at halftime, he said, adding that his team could have took the lead in the first half.
“We could have done better to avoid the two goals. Senegal scored in the second half, mistakes should happened when one is playing with the best team in Africa," Coach McKinstry pointed.
McKinstry said that the match against Senegal was a learning opportunity for young players as he congratulated Senegal for their 3-1 victory over The Gambia.
Mckinstry wished the Terranga Lions all the best of luck in the 2026 World Cup.
Mckinstry added that The Gambia have discovered lots of talents over the last five years through U-17 and U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
