UNFPA, Fajara Golf Club commemorate Int’l Women’s Day

UNFPA in collaboration with Fajara Club on Saturday celebrated International Women’s Day at the Fajara Golf Course. The theme for this year’s commemoration is “Women in leadership”. 

Veronica H. Sabin, Manager Fajara Club in her remarks said the golf tournament involved armatures, professionals, cadis and beginners.

The tournament was organised to raise awareness, sensitise the people on gender equality and encourage women and young girls to engage in sporting activities.

Kunle Adeniyi, UNFPA Country Representative said International Women’s Day is celebrated globally on 8 March 2021.

Fatoumatta Jahumpa- Ceesay (FJC) said it is unfortunate Gambian women do not play golf, adding that golf is not for rich people only.
