Mr. Trama, who is well respected in international football circles, was visiting Medina United Football Academy at Yundum. He was in The Gambia to conduct football clinics and also scout for players for various academies and football outfits in Spain.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Trama said there is a lot of great talent in The Gambia but lamented the inadequate football facilities. He said he was very impressed by the young Scorpions' performance in Argentina and wondered what could have happened if the facilities were right.
"With little facilities, The Gambia beat France at the world stage. Can you imagine what it could have been if the facilities were right? The Gambia is on the right path," he stated.
Speaking on his host, Medina United Football Academy, he said: "I would have never imagined this facility is in Africa. They run it in a very professional and organised manner. I saw a lot of talent here. I was most impressed by the tactical ability of the Under 9 and 10. These kids are fundamentally sound football players, and there is no doubt that if they continue, some world class football players will come out of this academy. I was really thrilled by my visit."
