‘Scorpions created four good goal scoring chances in first half and crafted Gabon one’

Head coach of The Gambia senior national team, Jonathan Mckinstry, has stated that the Scorpions created four good goal scoring chances and Gabon crafted one in the first half of their crunch 2026 World Cup qualifier match.

Coach Mckinstry was speaking to journalists shortly after his side’s 3-2 defeat to Gabon in their fourth Group F qualifier match played at the Stade Franceville on Tuesday.

‘‘We created four good goal scoring chances in the first half and Gabon crafted one,’’ gaffer Mckinstry said.

Coach Mckinstry expressed his disappointment after his side failed to score their chances during the first half.

He revealed that he is building a new team with new mindset.

Coach Mckinstry guided The Gambia to their first victory in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers after thumping Seychelles 5-1 in their third Group F match played in Morocco on Saturday.

Gaffer Mckinstry and his Scorpions charges now need to win their remaining six qualifier matches and pray countries above them in Group F slip to secure play-off spot in the global biggest football showpiece qualifiers.

Meanwhile, The Gambia sit second-place from bottom in Group F of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with 3 points after winning one match and losing three.
