Ismaila Ceesay, the president of The Gambia Secondary School Sports Association (GSSSA), has vowed to end cheating in all domains of school sport activities.

Mr. Ceesay made the statement during a media update ahead of the upcoming inter-schools’ championship which commenced on 3rd February 2023.

“We have taken strong stance to endure zero cheating. We vowed that we are going to ensure cheating ends in Senior Secondary School Sport activities in all domains be it athletics, football and all other domains we are partaking in,” Mr. Ceesay said.

According to him, in their last year’s activities, they came up with an electric broom where they were able to weep as much schools as possible, adding that they banned 21 schools from participating during their last championship activities as a result of cheating.

“We do not have to disadvantage the upcoming and young rising from schools by encouraging cheating. We want to give them the equal right and opportunity to showcase their talents.”

He added that if they continue allowing the old ones (students) to be recycled in the system from one school to another, then there will be no chance for the upcoming and young rising athletes.

He revealed that some students would never graduate, noting that this will hide brighter and smartest talents.

He said the executive members of GSSSA all come from schools, and therefore they would not mind to take the necessary decision if any school is found wanting.

President Ceesay added that the essence of their competition is to bring out new talents every year so that The Gambia will have a pool of talents to represent the country internationally with the right ages.
