RoheyYata Njie U9-13 Cup kicks off at Medina Utd Academy Complex

Last Saturday marked an exciting day for Medina United Football Academy as the Rohey Yata Taal Njie U9, U11 and U13 Cup officially kicked off at the Medina United Academy Complex located at the Yundum Airport Strip.

The tournament is named after the RoheyYataTaal Njie, who, according to the Academy CEO was a person who loved and cared for children in life.

 The academy found it prudent to name this youth tournament after her. “she was not just a beautiful soul, she was exceptional and a true definition of decency," according to Sanna Jobarteh, General Manager of the Academy.

The tournament is aimed at promoting grassroots football among young talents and providing a platform for budding players to showcase their skills.

The event drew notable people, including esteemed officials from the Gambia Football Federation (GFF). Prominent figures in attendance included Lamin L.S. Sambou, Pa Suwareh Faye, and AlagieNyassi, who expressed their support for youth football and the importance of nurturing young athletes for the future of Gambian football.

The opening match featured a thrilling clash between Medina United U-9 team and Sporting Banjul.

The spectators were treated to a captivating game that highlighted the talent and potential of young players. Medina United demonstrated their prowess on the field, securing a commanding 4-1 victory over Sporting Banjul.

The match showcased the skills and determination of the youngsters, with impressive teamwork and individual brilliance on display.

Thus, the opening day of the RoheyYata Njie U9, U11 and U13 Cup set a promising tone for the event.
