Red Scorpions continue winning form in Women’s League

Red Scorpions FC have continued their winning formula in The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) Women’s 1st Division League after defeating The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) 3-0 during their week-five fixture played at the Live Your Dreams Sports Complex in Basori on Saturday.

Queen Scorpions’ striker Ola Buwaro scored a brace (two goals) for her side (Red Scorpions) in the 11th and 44th minutes respectively, before Mariama Cham scored the third goal in the 45+1 minute of the first half to give Red Scorpions all three points.  

Jeshwang-based team, Red Scorpions continued from where they stopped before the winter-break as they collected their fifth win of the season.

The female Soldiers (GAF) who started the league very inconsistently now suffered their third defeats of the season.

Red Scorpions overall collected five wins in five games, while GAF collected two wins, one draw and suffered three losses in six games.

Red Scorpions maintained their lead at the top of the Women’s 1st Division League standings on 15 points, while The Gambia Armed Forces occupied fifth position with 7 points.

City Girls FC defeated Immigration FC 1-0 in the earlier game played at the Live Your Dreams Sports Complex in Basori on Friday.

Ellen Gai scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot to give her side, City Girls all three points.

City Girls collected their second win of the season, while struggling side, Immigration now suffered their fourth defeats of the season.

City Girls overall collected three draws, two wins and are without a loss, while Immigration earned two draws, suffered four defeats and are without a win after six games.

City Girls moved to third position with 9 points, while Immigration sit second-from-bottom-(8th)-position with 2 points.

At the time of going to press on Sunday, The Gambia Police Force (GPF) was playing against Brikama United in the earlier game, before Berewuleng took on Abuko United in the late encounter at the Live Your Dreams Sports Complex in Basori.
