Real triumph over Steve Biko to snatch 2nd spot in 1st Division

Real de Banjul on Saturday defeated Steve Biko 2-1 in their week-15 fixture played at the Live Your Dreams Sports Academy Complex in Basori to secure second-place in the 2025\2026 Vista Bank-Baluwo sponsored Gambia Football Federation (GFF) Division One League.

The City Boys made a woeful start to the country’s Elite League campaign after losing their three opening league outings.

Gaffer Ebrima Jatta and his Real de Banjul charges regrouped themselves and won their previous league outings before clashing with Steve Biko, who are currently struggling in the First Division League.

Real de Banjul were anxious to clasp the significant three points against Steve Biko and hope teams above slip to snatch second-place on the country’s Elite League table.

The City Boys secured the maximum points, thanks to goals from Modou Lamin Darboe and Sidiki Jobarteh in the 21st and 67th minutes of the match respectively.

Steve Biko responded back for an equalizer and crafted goal scoring opportunities.

The Bakau Giant Killers pulled back one goal in the stoppage time, which eventually proved to be a consolation for them thus the match ended 2-1 in favour of Real de Banjul.

 Real de Banjul now snatched second-place on the country’s Elite League table with 24 points following their slender win over Steve Biko.

The City Boys will use the first round break to prepare themselves set for the second round of the First Division League campaign.

Steve Biko still sit second-place from bottom on the First Division League table with 12 points after fifteen league matches.

The Bakau Giant Killers will use the first round break to prepare themselves ready for the second round of the country’s Elite League campaign.
