Playing home matches away affect Scorpions - Musa Barrow

Assistant Captain of The Gambia senior national team, Musa Barrow, has stated that playing home matches away is affecting the Scorpions in their 2025 Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations qualifier and 2026 World Cup qualifier matches.

Barrow was speaking to journalists shortly after The Gambia's 4-3 defeat to Gabon in their second-leg fixture of the global biggest football showpiece qualifier played in Nairobi, Kenya, on Friday.

"Playing our home matches away really affects us during the continent's biggest football showpiece qualifier matches and the global biggest football fiesta qualifier matches," Barrow said.

He stated that The Gambia stands a better chance of qualifying for the 2025 Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 World Cup if they played their home matches at the Independence Stadium.

The Gambia have failed to qualify for the continent's biggest football showpiece and the global biggest football fiesta following their dismal performance in their qualifier matches.

Confederation of African Football (CAF) has banned the Independence Stadium from hosting international matches some years ago after failing to meet the continent’s football governing body requirements.
