Speaking at a press conference held at the Gambia Teacher’s Union secretariat in Kanifing, director of competition at GSSSA, Abdou Karim Sey, stated that after the completion of the regional heats, the ground is now set for the national inter-schools athletics championship.
"245 schools have participated in the regional athletics heats from Banjul to Boli Banna with 7000 athletics participated during the course of the heats," Sey said.
He revealed that 145 schools qualified for the final, adding each of these schools have number of qualifiers.
Sey pointed out that 4000 athletics are expected to participate in this year’s national inter-schools athletics final.
President of GSSSA, Ismaila Ceesay, revealed that this year’s national inter-schools athletics championship is different from the previous championships.
"There has been some changes and adjustment more specially in terms of administration," Ceesay said.
“We have unanimously agreed not to provide feeding to schools due to logisticial constraints we have been experiencing over the years," Ceesay explained.
