The event started with a run and jogging from Westfield to Traffic Lights to raise awareness on breast cancer and promote healthy life.
The event brought together journalists, health workers, fitness groups and members of the public in a symbolic run aimed at inspiring fitness and amplifying the message of early detection.
Ecomig contingent member, Dr. Obinna John Onwe, highlighted the vitality of the run, adding that the event was not only about breast cancer prevention but also about encouraging regular exercise for overall health.
Vice president of the Media Run Challenge, Adama John, stated that the initiative fosters unity, support journalism students and build community partnerships.
John encouraged participants to embrace fitness as part of their daily lives and take advantage free breast cancer screenings offered in collaboration with the National Cancer Control Programme.
Captain Kemo Kanuteh of The Gambia Armed Forces emphasized the importance of staying active, adding that regular exercise strengthens body against diseases.
Kanuteh commended the organisers and reaffirmed military’s support for health-promoting initiatives.
Bakary Camara, a representative from ADRS revealed that his office was very grateful to be part of the noble event.
Camara thanked Media Run Challenge for coming up with such initiative.
“This is something that should be done annually and my office is here to collaborate with media run Challenge."
