Head Coach of The Gambia senior national team, Johnathan McKinstry is seeking support from government, The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) and fans to ensure the Scorpions are fully prepared to compete with the continent's best countries in football competitions.

Mckinstry was speaking shortly after the draw of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers held in Cairo, Egypt on Tuesday afternoon.

The Gambia have been drawn against Ivory Coast, Ghana and Somalia in Group C of the continent’s biggest football showpiece qualifiers.

He believes the Scorpions can rise to the occasion against Africa’s top sides in football.

Mckinstry stated that the Scorpions have produced a strong performance against Ivory Coast in the 2026 World Cup qualifier match played in Abidjan last year.
