Work is set to start at the Gunjur Mini Stadium very soon, according to news emanating from The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) Secretariat in Kanifing East Layout.
The twenty male teams within the KMRFA region each received D10, 000 while the six female teams were each given D5, 000 totaling to D230, 000 dalasis. The presentation was held at the KMRFA Secretariat in Manjai Kunda on Wednesday.
Mustapha Jammeh, first vice president of KRMFA said the reason for the assistance is as a result of the difficult situation the country is facing due to coronavirus. “We understand that clubs within the region need our support both in cash and kind in order to be able to lift themselves in these trying times,”she stated.
Secretary General of Serrekunda United football club Pa Lamin Sillah on behalf of beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the regional FA for the initiative. He said they were not expecting the gesture which came to them as a surprise.
According to him, the assistance will go a long way in helping clubs during the covid-19 pandemic.
During the presentation, the FA’s executive agreed with stakeholders to nullify the league season due to the coronavirus pandemic.
