Kalifa Manneh scores first Serie C league goal for Catania

Gambian international Kalifa Manneh scored his first 2020/2021 Serie C league goal for Catania during their 1-1 draw against US Catanzaro in their week-seventeen fixtures of the Italian Serie C (third division league) played at the Angelo Massimino stadium.

The 22-year-old winger leveled the score line for his side with a superb finish in the 87th minute after US Catanzaro’s Alessio Di Massimo gave his side the lead in the 8th minute of the game.

The strike has become the first goal scored by the Serekunda-born player after six games in all competition for Catania.

Manneh who travelled to Italy at the age of 15, later auditioned for Catania after joining their youth academy.

The former Carrarese player made his professional debut with Catania in a 0-0 Serie C tie with Juve Stabia on 14 May 2017.

Manneh debuted for the Scorpions in a 1-nil friendly win over Guinea on 7 June 2019.

Musa Barrow Wins Bologna’s Player of the Year Award 2020

Meanwhile, Scorpions and Bologna striker, Musa Barrow has been awarded Bologna MVP (Player of the Years 2020) after gathering 63% of votes yesterday.

The 22-year-old attacker beat defender Takehiro Tomiyasu, striker Riccardo Orsolini and midfielder Roberto Soriano for the award after gathering larger votes

The former Hawks FC player has been very instrumental for his Italian top flight side (Bologna) after scoring three goals and two assists in fourteen games in 2020 since resumption of football in Italy.

Barrow’s fine performances this year has also earned him the best Gambian foreign-based footballer award for 2020 earlier this week.

Musa Barrow moved from Atalanta to Bologna on loan with an obligation to buy for a fee reported to be around€13 million.

Soon after his transfer, Barrow became the starting striker under coach Siniša Mihajlović and became one of their top scorers of the season despite only arriving in January.

He scored twelve goals in about thirty appearances since moving on loan to Bologna

Barrow made his debut for the senior Gambia national football team in a 1–1 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualification draw with Algeria on 8 September 2018.
