The Extra-ordinary Elective General Assembly was at the Hotel D’Amite in Bamako, Mali, and the election was a one-horse race, decisively won by Mr. Mahazou Dit Baba Cisset, who secured 69 out of the possible 72 votes.
This landmark election signals the conclusion of a long-standing crisis within the Malian Football Federation that has spanned several years, marking a new era for football in the sister republic.
Also in attendance at the event was the former President of the Niger Football Federation, Colonel Djibrilla Hima, who is a FIFA Council Member and represented the FIFA President.
El Hajj Waka Diop, Head of the FIFA Regional Office for West Africa, Ms. Fatou Camara, the Senior Manager of the FIFA West Africa Office, and Mapathe Gaye, the Executive Director of WAFU-A, were also present.
"The presence of high-ranking officials from across the West African region underscores the unity and renewed commitment to football governance in WAFU-A and CAF as a whole," President Bajo told the GFF Media in a statement.
