ACCG, ISCA cricket championship underway

The Asian Cricket Committee, Gambia (ACCG) and Indian Social and Cultural Association (ISCA) cricket championship is currently underway in The Gambia.

The championship featured Asian community in The Gambia and beyond.

The nine (9) teams participating in the championship are:  J Balaji Kings, J Balaji Tigers, Swami India, Pran Gladiators, FCC 1, FCC 2, Com Afrique, Kutchi Gianta and Jimpex Titans.

Speaking on behalf of ACCG president, General Secretary of ACCG, Dr Hafiz Muhammed Asif,  expressed gratitude to Dr. Ismaila Ceesay for gracing the occasion.

"Your support reflects the importance of sports in promoting unity, youth engagement and national development," Dr. Asif said.

Dr Asif revealed that the championship brings together players from The Gambia, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

He further revealed that sports unite people beyond borders, cultures and background, adding that cricket is not just a game, it a platform for discipline, teamwork, respect and healthy competition.

Dr. Asif thanked sponsors such as Bell Bottling Company Group, Goldfinch, MP Trading, Duraplast, House of Flavour, Ginger Restaurant and Bel Aqua Company for their supports.

 He thanked Smart Plus for giving mobile phones for each of their matches in different awards.

He revealed that a total 135 players are participating in the championship with forty (40) matches to be played within ten (10) Sundays.
