Journalism students record 1st win in YJAG media tournament

The Journalism Students has become the first side to collect the maximum points in the Inter-Media Football tournament organised by the Young Journalism Association - The Gambia (YJAG).

The Journalism Students beat the Online Media team 1-0 during their opening game of Group A played at the East Park yesterday, Sunday.

Essa Dampha scored the only goal of the match during the first period.

The win puts the Journalism Students on top of Group A with three points, while Online Media sit at the foot of the group without a point.

Earlier on Saturday, Paradise TV/FM played a 1-1 draw against the Freelance Journalists during their opening Group B game played at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.

The Freelance Journalists took the lead through Muhammed Dukureh in the 3rd minute before Paradise TV/FM equalised through an own-goal by Momodou B. Jallow in the dying minutes of the game.

The result gave both Paradise TV/FM and the Freelance Journalists one point each, pending the opening game between The Point and Foroyaa Newspaper.

Meanwhile, Star FM/TV and Standard Newspaper played a goalless draw during the opening game of the tournament played at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium on Friday.

Both Star FM/TV and Standard Newspaper played very well creating some goal-scoring opportunities but neither side was able to convert any of their chances, leaving the score-line a barren stalemate.

Both Star FM/TV and Standard Newspaper collected one point each in Group A.

Matches will continue next weekend at Serrekunda West Mini Stadium.
