The final, which was played for the second time following a barren draw during the first game was graced by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Bakary Y. Badjie, KMC Mayor Talib Ahmed Bensouda and hundreds of football enthusiasts.
Both teams came into the game with the hope, aim and intention of triumphing following their impressive run in the league tournament, but it was the New Jeshwang-based team who had the last laugh.
The lifting of the league trophy was the first in the history of Jeshwang City in the Serrekunda West ‘nawetan’ league cup.
Jeshwang City booked their place into the final after defeating Celtic 1-0 in their semifinal clash, while the runners up, Tigers made it to the final after eliminating Janta Bii 1-0 in their semifinal encounter.
As winners, Jeshwang City were awarded a giant trophy, gold medals and a cash price of D60, 000, while runners up, Tigers received a consolation price of D40, 000.
