GWA opens Gambia’s wrestling season

The Gambia Wrestling Association (GWA) has announced the officially opening the 2021-2022 wrestling season effective Wednesday 6 October 2021.

“The Gambia Wrestling Association informs all Stakeholders that the 2021-2022 Wrestling Season is declared open effective today, Wednesday 6 October, 2021,” said the association in a press release. 

In this vein, clubs (wrestlers, managers, coaches and promoters) can renew their licences through the Gambia Wrestling Association GTBank Account.

Meanwhile, the Wrestling Association said club forms can be collected at the GWA office, noting that clubs must collect, fill and return their forms before being recognised as existing clubs.

Furthermore, wrestlers must also provide a medical certificates showing they are fit to practice the sport before they are issued a licence.

GWA revealed that the club licence is pegged at D1000; manager’s at D3000; coach’s at D3000; promoter’s (boxing at D5000 and freestyle at D2, 5000) respectively.

According to the association, payments for the licences should be done through the association’s account number.

The Gambia Wrestling Association under the leadership of Serign Modou Cham assured stakeholders of its continued commitment and dedication to the betterment of the sport, while wishing everyone a successful 2021-2022 Wrestling Season.
