The MoU is geared towards fostering a working relationship for both institutions for the development of Olympic wrestling (Freestyle, Greco-Roman and Women Wrestling).
The Gambia Wrestling Association (GWA) and OlympAfrica Centre will work together on discovering grassroots wrestlers and develop them to compete in Olympic wrestling.
Speaking on behalf of the president of GWA, the first vice president of the association, Abdoulie Gillen, described the ceremony as historic in the annals of the traditional sport.
"This is a proud moment for us and we are looking forward to the full implementation of the MoU.”

‘‘The GWA is doing everything within its means to create the enabling environment for our wrestlers to excel on the global stage," Gillen said.
Desk Officer for Wrestling at the National Sports Council( NYC), Alhagie Abdoulie Bojang, hailed the GWA for their dedication in improving sports.
Bojang assured the gathering of the government's full support.
Director of OlympAfrica Centre, Bubacarr Jallow , stated that international sports are now using OlympAfrica Centres around the world as springboards to uplift sports, adding that it should be the dream of everyone to leave a good legacy.
"We started talking about this MoU since we had coaching training.
All of us have been pushing since then because we have a target for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal, and our target is to have people that will represent The Gambia.”
According to Jallow, part of the MoU with GWA is to have the expertise after having the materials and infrastructure to scout talents for the 2026 Olympic.
Seedy Chorr, TD and Coach of The Gambia Olympic Team, Assan Jarju, Programme Officer for Wrestling at SESDO and Public Relations Officer(PRO) of SESDO Abubacarr Krubally, all described the partnership as a positive step forward.
They all assured the full commitment of their institutions to the implementation of the MoU.
