The Coastal Town boys slipped to Sanyang 2-1 in the group match phase of the West Coast Region zonal football championship last year before their opening match.
Gunjur came for revenge against Sanyang to clasp the maximum points in the West Coast Region zonal football tournament.
Despite their slow start to the match, the Coastal Town boys made several goal scoring attempts but were not clinical in front of goal.
Sanyang, who dominated the opening minute of the match, created some goal scoring opportunities but failed to capitalise on them.
Dawda Sowe gave Gunjur the lead in the 43rd minute of the match from a diving header.
Sanyang fought back for an equaliser and crafted a few goal scoring opportunities but squandered them away thus the first half ended 1-0 in favour of Gunjur.
Upon resumption of the match, Gunjur and Sanyang both injected in several fresh legs to bolster their attacking tags.
Budding Baboucarr Jassey alias Joe Cole scored the second goal for Gunjur in the 69th minute of the match from an astonishing strike to dash Sanyang’s hopes of coming back to their feet.
Substitutes Omar Jammeh alias Dybala netted the third goal for Gunjur in the 89th minute of the match from an excellent strike thus the match ended 3-0 in favour of Gunjur.
