Speaking at a press conference held at the Independence Stadium Conference Hall in Bakau, a member of the GPNC, Mama Faal Kah, stated that the press conference was organised to brief the media about their plans and activities ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
Faal Kah further stated that the Paris 2024 Para Olympic Games will begin in September 2024.
“Paralympic year is a very busy year that’s why we have all the classifications and qualifications for the games,” she said.
The Secretary General of GNPC, Sainey Camara, highlighted some of the local events of the GNPC before September para Olympic Games.
‘‘Para Olympic year is a busy year for the disable athletes because every athlete wants to qualify to showcase their skills and talents to the world.
“We are embarking on many activities and we have plans to continue our activities as far as the GNPC is concern,’’ Camara said.
Camara revealed that they have started scouting athletes countrywide.
‘‘There are other hidden talents in other parts of the country who could be potential athletes for The Gambia in Paralympics,’’ Camara said.
Camara pointed out his executive vision is not to only focus on people in the Greater Banjul Area, adding that they want to bring every disable persons in the country on board to engage them in their activities.
Media officer of the GNPC, Hagie Drammeh, stated that physically challenged persons have talents that can change their lives.
