Dutch elite trainer Koster enthusiastic to coach Gambia national team

A Dutch elite trainer, UEFA A License holder and seasoned coach, Rene Koster, is keen to coach The Gambia senior national team alongside his partner veteran coach Guus Hiddink.

According to Koster's agent, discussions are underway to reach out to The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) to explore the possibility of assuming the role of head coach.

If given the opportunity, Koster and his team pledge to provide robust support to Gambian football, focusing on both player development and coach education.

Specialisation in nurturing youth talents from U-13 level to senior ranks, Koster boast an extensive international reputation , having worked with renowned youth academies and educators across the globe.

His journey began at the age of 16, marking the onset of a distinguished coaching career that spans continents and cultures.

Koster's professional trajectory includes pivotal roles at clubs and federations:

In Ammonite Football Academy (2021): Serving as the Technical Director, Koster oversees operations globally while also contributing to the development of Swedru All Blacks, integrating scouting, coaching, training, and coach development initiatives.

In Shooting Stars Ghana / FC Utrecht Academy Ghana (2016 - 2021): Koster's tenure involved scouting and coaching responsibilities, coupled with mentorship for the coaching staff, within Ghana's football landscape.

In Almere City FC (2016 - 2019): As the Director of the youth academy, Koster played a pivotal role in talent identification and development, alongside coaching duties at various levels within the club structure.

In Bangladesh Football Federation (2013 - 2015):Koster's international stint saw him serve as the Assistant National Team Coach and Head Coach across various age groups, contributing to Bangladesh's footballing endeavours on the global stage.

In Almere City FC / Ajax FC (2007 - 2013): Koster led the youth academy while also assuming coaching responsibilities for different age groups, further showcasing his versatility and depth in player development.

Koster's coaching journey extends beyond borders, with notable engagements in the USA, Japan, Nepal, and Nigeria, among others.

 His international exposure includes steering Bangladesh's national team through significant tournaments such as the Asian Games and AFC Challenge Cup.
