It promised regional and nationwide school football programs, annual U-12 academy competitions, and U-15 regional and national leagues that will culminate with the establishment of a U-15 team as the basis of our national teams.
The country’s furthest region, Upper River Region (URR), continues to set the pace in that regard as their regional U-15 league continues to gather pace under the auspices of the region’s football association, Upper River Region Football Association (URRFA), the official football authorities representing the GFF in that part of the country.
Over the weekend, at the Basse high level playing field, Phoenix Academy defeated Swansea 2-0 while Karbantang and Koba Kunda played out a goalless stalemate.
At the end of the regional phase of these leagues, the national championship will be held at the home of Gambian football, the National Technical Training Centre (NTTC) in Old Yundum.
It is from this national championship, where the best players will be selected by our expert group of national team coaches to help set up the national team.
