Star player Mustapha Andrews scored a decisive penalty for Gilkock to send them to the much awaited final against Logic Academy who also booked their place to final following a shootout win against Saul Corr Academy after a scoreless draw in regulation time.
Batch Samba Ceesay, head coach of Gilkock Academy, expressed delight after guiding his side to this year’s final.
“I’m really happy and satisfied with the performance of these young lads throughout the tournament. If you watch the game, you would spot out positive and talented young players and I believe our work has gathered momentum with these young stars,” he stated.
Mr. Njie, a certified academy trainer, urged The Gambia Football Federation and stakeholders to invest more in youth football especially at academy levels who have great potentials.
“I am with the belief that if we concentrate more in this level, we can definitely produce a lot of professional players in the future. When you look around, you realise that the future is really bright for football in this country,” he further said.
The final will be played on Saturday 18th September 2021 at the KG5 Mini Stadium in Banjul.
