GFF mourns demise of Gabbi Sosseh

The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) is saddened by the demise of Alhaji Abdoulie Omar Sosseh, widely known as Gabbi Sosseh.

Sosseh, a former President of the then GFA from 2001 to 2004 took his final breath on Tuesday 29th July 2025.

He was one of the pioneers of modern day Gambian football and founded Mass Sosseh Shipyard, a defunct national league team.

Sosseh was also a marine engineer and served amongst many institutions in The Gambia, including Gambia Ports Authority from 1972 to 1995, where he became one of the founders of The Gambia Ports Authority Football Club.

At national level, it was under his leadership that the National Technical Training Centre was built in Yundum, through FIFA, which now host the Football Hotel.

President of the GFF, Lamin Kabba Bajo described Sosseh as a towering figure of Gambian football administration.

Bajo added that Sosseh's demise is a huge loss for not only football but The Gambia in general.

He prayed for the soul of the departed to rest in eternal peace.
