Gambia Hockey Association organises maiden hockey match

The Gambia Hockey Association (GHA) has organised its first hockey match at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
The match featured Kanifing East Senior Secondary School and Kairaba Senior Secondary School.

The purpose of the match was to create opportunities for players to practice and explore their talents.

The game was part of Physical Health Education (PE) syllabus.

The game was fascinating and captivating as both teams registered high magnitude of determination, skills and respect throughout the match.

 The game was played in 60 minutes.

The match was divided into two halves with 10 minutes break.

The match between Kanifing East Senior Secondary School and Kairaba Senior Secondary School ended goalless.

The game was witnessed by the Secretary General of The Gambia Hockey Association, Mrs. Amie Jallow and Mr. Alasan Sey, who also serves as the Technical Director of The Gambia Hockey Association.

Sey also doubles as sport officer at the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.

The match was officiated by Mr. Omar Ceesay.

The Secretary General of The Gambia Hockey Association and Technical Director of The Gambia Hockey Association both told schools to prepare well for their next games.

‘The match was part of a project to disseminate knowledge and skills to hockey players across The Gambia.

‘‘We will provide training sessions for Physical Education (PE) teachers in other regions in the country,’’ The Gambia Hockey Association said.
