The Gambia national team is eyeing for their second appearance in Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted in Ivory Coast in 2024.

The Scorpions made their debut appearance in the continent’s bi-annual biggest football showpiece in 2021 after finishing top-spot in Group D of the qualifiers with 10 points in six group matches.

The Gambia currently sit third-place in Group F of the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with 3 points following their slender 1-0 win over South Sudan in their opening match before losing to Congo 1-0 in their second group match.

The Scorpions must overcome Mali in their third group match in March 2023 to maintain their chances of qualifying for the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations.

Coach Tom Saintfiet and his charges will use the upcoming months to improve on their weakness ahead of their crunch qualifier clash against Mali.

The Gambia drew 1-1 with Mali in the group phase of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations before slipping to host nation, Cameroon 2-0 in their quarterfinal match.
