Gambia deaf team appeals for support to participate in world championship

The Gambia Deaf National team is appealing to the government of The Gambia and football stakeholders to support them financially to facilitate their participation in this year’s World Deaf Football Championship.

The Gambia Deaf National Football Team and officials are invited to participate in the 4th World Deaf Football Championship to be held in Kuala Lampur and Selangor, Malaysia from 23rd September to 7th October 2023.

The event is sanctioned by the International Committee of Sports for the Deaf (ICSD) and supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia.

Lamin Ceesay, president of Deaf Sports Association - The Gambia, said: “We are on our knees appealing for financial support from stakeholders, The Gambia Government, business and private sector as well as Gambian international footballers abroad to facilitate our participation in the competition to be held in Malaysia.”

He urged government and philanthropists to consider the differently abled especially in sport development.

He said the organising committee will offer free local transport service from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to the hotel for those who made their hotel reservation through the organising committee.

He added that there will also be bus services between the official hotel to every stadium on training and competition days.
