The Gambia national home-based Scorpions (CHAN) are set to commence training on Monday 14th April 2025 in preparation for the second and final round of the Total Energies African Nations Championships 2025 playoffs against Algeria.

The training will be held at the home of Gambian football (NTTC) in Old Yundum from Mondays to Thursdays at 08:30am each day under the guidance of Coach Alhagie Sarr.

The Scorpions are scheduled to host Algeria in the first leg on Saturday, 3rd May 2025, at the Independence Stadium in Bakau at 15:00GMT. This will be the first competitive international football to be hosted at the Independence Stadium since February of 2022 when the Women Scorpions lost 2-1 at home to Cameroon in the WAFCON qualifiers.

The return match of the double-legged qualifiers will be played a week later on Friday, 9th May, in Algeria.

The winner over the two legs will qualify for the Total Energies African Nations Championships (CHAN) to be played in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda later this year in August.

The Gambia knocked out Gabon 5-3 on penalties after a 1-1 aggregate draw to advance to the next stage of the playoffs.
