Gaffer Yahya Manneh begins player screening as U-17 Cup of Nations approaches

Head Coach of The Gambia U-17 team, Yahya Manneh, yesterday started his player screening exercise at the National Technical Training Centre in Old Yundum, as the 2025 U-17 Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations approaches.

Coach Yahya Manneh will use next three days to screen new players.

The players are expected to travel to Senegal on Friday 28th February 2025 for the mandatory MRI test before the commencement of the proper training.

The Gambia made an astonishing returned to U-17 Africa Cup of Nations following the addition of participating countries from twelve (12) countries to sixteen (16).

The Baby Scorpions won U-17 Africa Cup of Nations trophy twice trophy in 2005 and 2009 respectively after defeating Ghana and Algeria in the finals.

The Gambia qualified for FIFA U-20 World Cup twice in 2005 and 2009 respectively but were eliminated in the group phase following their woe performance in their group matches.
