GAF, Banjul Utd snatch triumphs in 1st Division

The Gambia Armed Forces and Banjul United on Saturday snatched massive victories in the 2023 Baluwo sponsored Gambia Football Federation (GFF) Division One League campaign.

The Soldiers hammered Steve Biko 4-1 in their week-two fixture played at the Bakau Mini Stadium.

The Gambia Armed Forces and Steve Biko were both defeated in their opening league outings before their crunch clash.

The Soldiers lost to TMT FC 2-1, while Steve Biko slipped to Team Rihno 2-0.

The Gambia Armed Forces and Steve Biko both came for the significant three points to bounce back in the country’s Elite League after losing their opening league matches.

Abdoulie Bojang gave The Gambia Armed Forces the lead in the 38th minute of the match.

Lamin Bojang scored the second and third goals for The Gambia Armed Forces in the 41st and 55th minutes of the match respectively to complete his brace.

Francis Cole netted the fourth goal for the men in uniform in the 85th minute of the match.

Musa Jaiteh’s 90th minute strike only proved to be a consolation goal for Steve Biko.

Banjul United thrashed Falcons FC 3-1 at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium on the same day.

Striker Mansour Mbaye gave Banjul United the lead in the 30th minute of the match from the penalty spot.

Yususa Ceesay and Baba Ceesay scored the second and third goals for Banjul United in the 60th and 69th minutes of the match respectively.

Amadou Jallow’s 84th minute strike only proved to be a consolation goal for Falcons FC.

Meanwhile, TMT FC drew goalless with Team Rihno at the Banjul K5 Mini Stadium to share the spoils in the country’s Elite League.
