The long-awaited final will feature Gunjur and Foni on Monday1st January 2024 at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium at 4.30pm.
Gunjur defeated COSDA 1-0 in their semi-final match played at the Sanyang Football Field to navigate to the final of the annual West Coast Region zonal football tournament.
Foni sailed to the final of the 2023 West Coast Region zonal football tournament following their 5-3 post-match penalty shootouts victory over Sanyang after regulation time ended 2-2 in their semi-final played at the Late Sanna Jatta Memorial Football Field in Lamin.
The final is described by many football admirers in the West Coast Region and its satellite areas as a crunch clash.
The final is expected to attract football followers from the West Coast Region and other parts of The Gambia.
It could be recalled that Gunjur won the first edition of the West Coast Region zonal football tournament trophy in 2021 after thumping Sanyang 2-0 in a well-contested final played at the Brikama Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium.
Budding Bubacarr Bojang alias Boy Neneh scored a brace for Gunjur during the match.
Meanwhile, Gunjur beat Foni 1-0 in the group phase of the 2023 West Coast Region zonal football tournament at the Gunjur Upper Basic School Football Field.
Prolific striker Alieu Badjie’s second half strike was all but enough to earn Gunjur a slender win over Foni.
