According to Faye, he is always there on the invitation of the national team head coach, Tom Saintfiet.
“I agree that I should not be sitting on the Senior National team’s bench but I am always there on the invitation of the coach and not necessarily as a technician,” he said.
He explained that his sitting on the Scorpions bench started in Turkey when the Team Manager Ousman ‘Cho’ Drammeh was not there and he deputized to serve as the Team Manager.
“Since then, the coach always wants me to be there but normally, I am not supposed to be there.”
Mr Faye noted that he is not really bothered by the criticism, adding that any one serving in public office must accept criticism.
“Others criticise us while others appreciate what we are doing. Sometimes, we look at whether certain criticisms are constructive with facts or just opinions. If they are facts, we accept them,” he added. “Constructive criticism is good and helps one grow as a person.”
