‘D388M budgeted for AFCON’

The chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee of the National Coordinating Committee, Musa Sise, has stated that D388 million is budgeted for the Gambia’s participation in the 2023 Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted in Ivory Coast.

Mr. Sise was speaking to journalists during a press conference held at the Independence Stadium Conference Hall in Bakau yesterday.

He revealed that a delegation is expected to travel to Ivory Coast on Saturday 9th December 2023 to inspect places where the national team and Gambian delegation will be lodged during the course of the 2023 Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations.

Mr. Sise further revealed that 150 people will travel to Ivory Coast for the continent’s biggest football showpiece.

He stated that the NCC is planning to organise a refresher match for The Gambia national team at the Independence Stadium in Bakau before they travel to Ivory Coast for the 2023 Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations.

Mr. Sise further stated that the NCC is also planning to stage a mega concert with Gambian artists to raise funds for The Gambia national team’s participation in the continent’s bi-annual biggest fiesta.

President of The Gambia Football Federation (GFF), Lamin Kabba Bajo, stated that The Gambia is among the three best countries in Africa football.

Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ndey Marie Njie, also expressed similar sentiments.
