Commonwealth Games qualifiers: Gambia wheelchair basketball team leave for Angola

The Gambia Wheelchair Basketball Team recently left Banjul for  Luanda, Angola to participate in the Commonwealth Games qualifiers.

The qualifier match is expected to begin on 22nd March 2026 and finish on 27th March 2026.

Four athletes are set to represent The Gambia in the Commonwealth Games qualifiers.

The athletes will fight hard to earn The Gambia a place in the

 Commonwealth Games.

Speaking ahead of the team’s departure to Angola, Secretary General of The Gambia National Paralympic Committee, Sainey Camara, expressed optimism about the team’s chances of making it to the Commonwealth Games.

Camara informed the team that members of the executive of The Gambia National Paralympic Committee (GNPC) are confident in their quality, resilience and commitment.

He applauded The Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) for sponsoring the team’s participation in the Commonwealth Games qualifiers as well as collaboration between two bodies in the development and promotion of Para sports on the International Stage.
