The match was attended by senior members of the banking fraternity.
Speaking after the final whistle, Central Bank assistant coach Basirou Jagne said he was delighted to secure maximum points.
“It is always difficult for us to win our first match as the host,” Jagne said. “This year’s championship comes with a new strategy aimed at reaching the final.”
Vista Bank head coach Modou Lamin Cham said his side performed well despite missing key players. “Last year we performed well. We are facing challenges with player availability,” Cham explained.
Competition chairman Palise Mendy said the tournament is set to unite The Gambia’s banking sector. He revealed that 12 banks each paid a D100,000 registration fee.
Winners of this year’s championship will receive D150,000. The runners-up will pocket D125,000.
In other results, Mega Bank and Agib Bank played out a goalless draw to share the spoils.
On Saturday, Trust Bank thumped BSIC Bank 2-0, while Access Bank edged First Bank 1-0.
Zenith Bank and GTBank also drew goalless on the same day to share the points.
The late Governor Famara Jatta Memorial Tournament is an annual event that brings together commercial banks in a spirit of camaraderie and competition, while honouring the legacy of the former Central Bank governor.
