Buckingham Utd FC clutches G. Boy Janneh’s tourney trophy

Buckingham United FC on Saturday clinched the 2021 G. Boy Janneh’s sponsored football tournament trophy after defeating Red Star Family FC 2-1 in a keenly-contested final encounter played at the Gunjur Upper and Senior Secondary School Football Field.

The Red and the palace boys were both eager to stun each other in their final encounter to lift the trophy; Buckingham United FC notched in two goals in the match to secure the giant trophy.

Red Star Family FC netted one goal in the match, which eventually proved to be a consolation for them.

As champions, Buckingham United FC were decorated with a giant trophy and a cash prize of D3, 500 while Red Star Family FC received D3, 500 as the runners-up.

The tournament was organised to groom and nurture young talented footballers in Gunjur and its satellite areas.
