GFF 1st Division League week-nine update

The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) First Division League week-nine fixtures has witnessed very entertaining encounters as well as some setbacks for big teams over the weekend.

On Friday, Hawks FC collected their second win of the season after defeating Gamtel FC 1-0 in a game played at the Live Your Dream Football Complex at Basori.

Midfielder Babucarr Sonko scored the only goal of the match for Hawks FC to increase their position in the league with a hard-fought victory.

The result has moved Hawks FC to eighth position in the league with 10 points, leveled with Gamtel FC who suffered their fifth defeats of the season and currently sit on eleventh position.

Elsewhere, Brikama United defeated B.K. Milan 2-0 in a game played at the Late Ousman Saho Football field at Yundum on Friday.

The win was the second recorded by Brikama United as Papis Nyassi and Lamin Balajo scored both goals for the Sateba Boys to inflict B.K. Milan to their third loss of the season.

The defeat has left the Kachikally Boys (B.K. Milan) ninth position with 10 points, while Brikama United jumped to seventh position with 11 points.

On Saturday, league leaders Fortune FC were forced to a goalless draw by Elite United in a game played at the Late Ousman Saho Football field at Yundum.

Both teams played an entertaining game as they created some goal scoring chances but none was able to convert their chances thus the game ended in a stalemate.

Petroleum Boys Fortune FC maintain their top position in the league with 21 points, while Elite occupy fifth position with 12 points.

Marimoo secured a surprise 2-0 win over The Gambia Ports Authority (GPA) in a game played at the Live Your Dream Football Complex at Basori.

The victory was the third for Manjai-based team (Marimoo), while GPA suffered their first loss of the season after nine matches.

Marimoo have moved to sixth position on the league after collecting 12 points, while GPA still maintained third position with 14 points.

On Sunday, struggling Wallidan FC forced Real de Banjul to a goalless draw in game played at the Live Your Dream Football Complex at Basori.

City Boys, Real who are described as one of the league's favourites were forced to a barren draw by the struggling Wallidan side who are yet to win a game after six draws and three defeats.

The draw has moved Real de Banjul to second position with 15 points, while Wallidan sustain themselves at second place from bottom with 6 points.

Elsewhere, Waa Banjul FC were forced to a goalless draw by arch rivals Banjul United in a Banjul derby played at the Live Your Dream Football Complex in Basori.

Both teams came with the hope of collecting the maximum points to improve their positions on the table but none was able to produce the winner.

Struggling Banjul United still maintain their position at the rock bottom of the table with 4 points, while Waa Banjul sits tenth position with 10 points, leveled with Hawks FC, B.K. Milan and Gamtel FC.
